When I joined the Nowell One Name Study, I chose to focus on creating or improving profiles for Nowells mentioned in the Massachusetts Vital Records Project at ma-vitalrecords.org.
The Nowell profiles mentioned in the Massachusetts records were also developed to include profiles for parents, spouses, and children when possible, extending through generations as well as locations not confined to Massachusetts. The goal was to fit the Massachusetts Nowells into the larger Nowell tree and improve connections.
The ma-vitalrecords.org pages became inaccessible midway through the effort and searches transitioned to town vital records listed on Space:Sources-Massachusetts instead. Around 1400 profiles were created or modified overall.
A cleanup pass was also made through the profiles to replace references to the defunct ma-vitalrecords.org pages with alternative sources from Space:Sources-Massachusetts.
Resources and Tools
Retained Nowell ONS profiles from MA Vital Records crawl
Each profile listed below is the head of a sub-branch I still manage. Descendants of each have been orphaned. The orphaned profiles are available for descendants to adopt who might also be interested in joining the project. Some of the retained profiles have direct family members with profiles managed by other WikiTree members who might be interested in adopting them. As they’re adopted, they are removed from this list. Thanks to
Sharon Danbrook,
Dave Jenkins,
Heather (Fitch) Loy,
Sharon (Fitch) McKenna,
and Norman Plaisted
for adopting profiles.
M Johnson is still living and wrote his own biography...
M began talking at an early age. He told bedtime stories to his parents from the womb.
At birth he had a 5 o’clock shadow.
As a youngster, M tinkered with interstellar travel. Several star systems consider M a deity, so Earth is safe from invasion for the next few millennia.
M invented a new musical scale audible only to plants.
Yet much of WikiTree continues to baffle M.
Featured Eurovision connections: M is 32 degrees from Agnetha Fältskog, 23 degrees from Anni-Frid Synni Reuß, 28 degrees from Corry Brokken, 21 degrees from Céline Dion, 25 degrees from Françoise Dorin, 25 degrees from France Gall, 29 degrees from Lulu Kennedy-Cairns, 27 degrees from Lill-Babs Svensson, 15 degrees from Olivia Newton-John, 33 degrees from Henriette Nanette Paërl, 33 degrees from Annie Schmidt and 18 degrees from Moira Kennedy on our single family tree. Thank you so much for your work on profile improvement for Irene Eaton Cahill. Are you related to Irene somehow? I just quickly threw together the profile as I have just recently begun to work on this part of the family tree. I am only related by marriage, but recently spoke to a relative of Irenes who is seeking more info. We are really trying to find or identify a photo and any information. Thanks in advance , and I appreciate all of your work! Elizabeth
Happy hunting!

Pre-1700 ancestors can be shared by many descendants, so collaboration is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.
Sources are very important here on Wikitree, especially on Pre-1700 profiles. It is how we show where we got the info and helps others find it too. Find out more about sources here and more detailed info here.
The Massachusetts project may fit your research focus. If not, use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find other possibilities. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.
If you have any questions, click reply below this message and I will get back to you.

PS Have you noticed that WikiTree adds a link to you and your DNA tests on the profiles of your ancestors and their descendants? It normally takes 24 hours. For more information on DNA, see Getting Started with DNA FAQ.
I am pleased to confirm and welcome you to the WikiTree family, your contributions will go a long way to joining the world together.
I would suggest starting with the New Member How-To pages, they will save you a lot of time and frustration.
If you sign the Honor Code page, it opens up more options.
I am here to answer any question you have, no matter how trivial you may think it is. Happy tree climbing
