Hi Vance, I wish you a very Merry Christmas and New Years. Thank you so much for all you do for the Challenges, we have again completed a challenge adding more then 800 soldiers to the Andersonville National Cemetery.
Vance Johnson created profiles in December 2023 US Civil War Project Andersonville National Cemetery W Surnames Challenge.

The US Civil War January Challenge is to connect US Civil War Soldiers for the January Connect-a-Thon. This year will be a twist of what I usually do. Instead of you choosing a "Surname Letter", you will be choosing from a block of soldiers whom I've already screened that show they have family to connect. Each soldier has a connection to one or more of his immediate family--parents, siblings, spouses, children, on their profile. Whether you work on one soldier or your whole block of soldiers, it's one step closer in our goal to connect each of our US Civil War Soldiers. The goal is to make sure all these soldiers are connected at least by one or two degrees. You can sign up now by clicking this link: US Civil War Sign-up Chart

Thank you for the research you did, and for the profiles you created and connected for the Challenge. You had 67 entries on the Challenge Tracker.

Hi Vance, this cemetery category needs a location parent category, https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Providence_Baptist_Church_Cemetery%2C_Batesville%2C_Georgia

Use the same process to create the location category that you used to create the cemetery category. Click on the red category and add the Location Category info box with the county as the parent.

Have a look at one in the same county, like Category: Raoul, Georgia, to see the category info box set-up.

Many thanks, regards Margaret, Categorization Project

Hi Margaret, I'm not sure what category you are asking me to make. I looked at the example and don't know where the wikidataID comes from. Happy to do the work once I understand what I need to do.

Hi Vance, the parent location category for Batesville, would have been red when you created the cemetery category. Since I posted the message, someone else has corrected the red category and created the location category, so it now shows as green on the cemetery category. Regards, Margaret
Hi there we are related through the Greens. I am the great great grand daughter of Elizabeth Tate Pack.

Hi there,

Welcome to Wiki Tree!

I have extensive information on the Green's and related families that I am slowly getting added to Wiki Tree. If there is anything I can help you with, give me a shout.

Hi Vance

In your Green tree - William Rogers Daniel was my father. You have Alpha Julia Green with 5 children - a Bill and a William - they are one in the same. My dad went by Bill and sometimes by "Red". It depended on the context. Alpha Julia (my grandmother) and Eugene Lewis Daniel (grandfather) were red-headed as were all their children. All were called "Red" - got confusing to those outside the family.

Hi Vance! I'm on Ranger Duty & noticed that you created several pre-1700 profiles from a ged import which has just an Ancestry link as source - that's not considered a reliable source for pre-1700 profiles (see Help:Pre-1700 Profiles).

At your earliest convenience, could you please add appropriate sources for the following profiles and/or the changed/added relationship?

Thanks!

Hi Liz, I'm sorry about that, I do have other sources for these but have been so overwhelmed doing many other things that I didn't get them in. I will do my best to get them added in the next few days. I won't make that mistake again!

Thank you for participating!

We had eight+ members who participated in connecting 45 Generals, only three of the Generals still show they didn't connect beyond the 1st level of family. Norman Jones won the first Project Challenge Badge, his choice for the October challenge is connecting more Generals. Thank you again Vance for joining the September Challenge, I hope to see you in the October Challenge. Pam Kreutzer, US Civil War Project Leader

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Pre-1700_Profiles. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines laid out on that page.

Hi Vance

The GEDCOMpare process guide has tips on how to use the data in your file most efficiently.

For those using Chrome, Opera, or Firefox browsers, there is a tool that can help with the formatting of profiles which have been created through GEDCOM, so that you can concentrate on the research. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.
