Biography

This profile is part of the Jackson Name Study.

Queen was the illegitimate daughter of Easter, described as a light-skinned slave woman. Her father was plantation owner James Jackson, Jr.[1][2] She may have been included in the slave schedule enumerated at Lauderdale co., Alabama in 1860.[3]

Queen Davy was married to Alex Haley in Hardin County, Tennessee, on 9 October 1881.[4]

Death

"Queen Haley Buried Wednesday"

Queen Haley, colored, died at the home of her son and the remains were brought here for funeral and burial Wednesday. She was past 90 yrs. of age, and surviving are her sons and daughters, Abner, Con, and Simon Haley and Annie Wilks; step children, Minnie Lowry and Freelan Haley.
