Margaret (Jack) McNeil was born in Scotland.

Margaret Jack was born on 5 March 1817 in Liberton, Midlothian, Scotland, United Kingdom, daughter of William Jack and Helen Balks.

Margaret (25) married Walter Blackie (25) on 8 October 1842 in Newbattle, Midlothian.

She was with her 2nd husband James and all 7 of her children from her first marriage: James Mcneill 56, wife Margaret Jack 44, stepson John Blackie 17, stepson William Blackie 15, stepson James Blackie 13, stepson Walter Blackie 10, stepson Andrew Blackie 8, stepdaughter Mary Blackie 5, stepdaughter Elisabeth Blackie 3.

Margaret died on the 15 Jan 1881 in Newbattle, Midlothian, aged 63. Margaret's death (age 63) was registered in 1881 in the Stobhill district.^[8]
