Biography

William Jack, son of David Jack & Jeanie Carruthers, was born on 29 June 1884 at 183 High Street, Dumbarton, Scotland. He was born illegitimate, but as noted on the birth certificate "Child legitimated by subsequent marriage of its parents. 17th July 1884."[1][2]

In the 1891 census, Wm (age 6), Scholar, was the son of David Jack in Afton Place 1, Dumbarton, Dumbartonshire.[3]

William served in the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders in 1914 during World War 1.[6]

William died (age 40) on 3 September 1924 at the Western Infirmary, Glasgow. Usual residence: 21 Castle Street, Dumbarton. Cause of death was duodenal ulcer perforation (operation), post-operative pneumonia. Informant was his widow Sarah.[2]

Probably as typo in the date, but you have William's death date as 1824 with a birth date of 1884. You also have him married to Sarah Higgins twice - these profiles should be merged. Please feel free to delete this message once these have been corrected! Best wishes. Jo
