In the 1891 census, Wm (age 6), Scholar, was the son of David Jack in Afton Place 1, Dumbarton, Dumbartonshire.[3]

William served in the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders in 1914 during World War 1.[6]
William died (age 40) on 3 September 1924 at the Western Infirmary, Glasgow. Usual residence: 21 Castle Street, Dumbarton. Cause of death was duodenal ulcer perforation (operation), post-operative pneumonia. Informant was his widow Sarah.[2]
