Edward Martin Robert Hunkin was born on 29 February 1928, son of William Herbert Hunkin (1888–1966) and Evelyn Stephens (1887–1973).

His siblings were:

1. William John Hunkin (30 April 1915 – 23 March 1975)
2. Gregory Herbert Hunkin (20 June 1924 – 27 June 1944)
3. Maurine Florence Hunkin (1926 – 13 November 2020)

Edward died on 16 August 2002, aged 74. He was buried in Springvale Botanical Cemetery.^[1]

Edward married Ena Minnie Diprose (born September 30, 1920).

Much beloved husband of Ena (dec.), beloved father of Bill and Elizabeth, loved father-in-law of Linden and Len. Cherished Grandpa of Matthew, Elise, Katherine and Sarah. Still living, still loving, still ours. HUNKIN. - Rev. Edward. Dearly loved brother of Maurine Wearne (Warrnambool), brother-in-law of Claude (dec.), dear uncle of Greg, Peter, David, Marylyn and Judith and their families. A man of God, forever with the Lord HUNKIN. - Dear Rev. Ed. Much loved and loving friend of Bert and Margaret. We give God thanks for his friendship, humor, generosity, love of both his fellowman and nature, and most of all, his sharing of faith. We done thou good and faithful servant
