Biography
Ernest John Hunkin was born on 3 May 1891 in Beaconsfield, Tasmania, Australia, son of William Henry Hunkin (1848–1917) and Emma Jane Phillips (about 1848–1918).[1]
His siblings were:

- Florence Hunkin (23 April 1883 – 31 March 1898)
- Elsie Hunkin (17 August 1887 – 30 October 1960)
- William Herbert Hunkin (06 December 1888 – 26 December 1966)

Ernest died in 1973 in Prahran, Victoria, aged 81. He was buried in Springvale Botanical Cemetery.[2]
