Alexander was born in Ohio in 1839, the son of Joseph Hullinger and Elizabeth Hill.[1] He married Lucretia "Creasy" Gabriel in Indiana in 1858.[2] Alexander was a Private in I Company, 12th Regiment, Indiana Infantry of the Union Army.[3] He passed away in Indiana in 1920, and is buried in Converse, Indiana.[4]
Research Notes
"A History of the Gabriel Family..." says he died on 30 May 1920[5] but other sources, including his Death Certificate, say it was 14 May.
The 1870 US Census gives an indexed birth year of 1846-1847,[6] but this is inconsistent with other Census entries and the year of 1839 given on his Death Certificate.
