WWI Draft Registration
James signed up for the WWI Draft on 6 September 1918 in Zanesville, Muskingum, Ohio, United States. He was still living with his parents and was 21 years old. James was working as a Rubber Worker for Goodyear Company in Akron, Ohio at the time of his registration. He listed his mother, Rebecca Howell, as his nearest relative. He was described as tall with a medium build with brown eyes and dark brown hair.[1]
Marriage and Family
James married Mabel Georgia Fuller (born on October 10, 1887 in Pennsylvania, United States) in Summit, Ohio, United States on April 7, 1921.[2]
They did not have any children.
A Child Out of Wedlock
James fathered a child out of wedlock with a woman named Christine Anna (Herndon) Sayers (1888-1938). He is the strongest candidate of boys in this family as the potential father of my grandfather, Elmer Allen Sayers (1923-1994). My DNA matches to the descendants of Arthur Grant Howell and Rebecca Barnett.
Death and Burial
James died on June 11, 1925 in Zanesville, Muskingum Ohio, aged 27. He was buried at the Greenwood Cemetery in Zanesville, Ohio.[3][4]
