Amanda was born in 1822. She was the daughter of William Hooton and Anna McGavran. She passed away in 1911. [1]
Mrs. Amanda Wright, aged eighty eight years, died at the home of her son, G. W. Wright, 519 East Fifth street, last evening. A short funeral service will be held at the home in the morning at seven forty-five and the remains will be taken to Galva for burial.
Mrs.Wright has made her home in Newton with her son for six years. For the past six months she has been quite feeble and the last two weeks her illness became critical.
She has fought the battle of life the morning at seven forty-five and alone forty five years, her husband having preceded her at that time.
She was the mother of six sons and one daughter. Her sons William, Isaac, Lincoln, August, and John W. are residing in various cities of the middle west, her daughter Clark Toland, lives in McPherson county near Galva, while her youngest son, George makes his home in this city.[2]
