Zebulon Hollingsworth was born in Cecil County, Maryland in 1696, the son of Henry Hollingsworth and Elizabeth Atkinson.
Zebulon was a large land owner, a magistrate, an officer in the Cecil County Militia and the president of the Cecil County Court. [1]
Zebulon Hollingsworth Patented the follow tracts in Cecil County either himself or in conjunction with others: [2]
* 1716 "Hollingsworth's Inspection" - 25 acres.
* 1716 "Hollingsworth Parcels" - 400 acres. Patented by Abraham Hollingsworth to Zebulon Hollingsworth and others.
* 1733 "Zebulon's Fancy" - 150 acres.
* 1734 "Hollingsworth's Second Parcel" - 85 acres. Certificate in name of Abraham Hollingsworth.
* 1743 - "Clement's Venture" - 200 acres, Patented with James Armstrong and in the name of Michael Clements.
* 1750 "Worth Little" - 69 acres.
Oct 1733: Zebulon Hollingsworth, innkeeper and his wife Ann, conveyed for £ 40, to Hugh Morgan, farmer, a tract of 150 acres called Zebulon's Fancy on the west branch of Elk River. Land is where said Hugh Morgan now lives. [3]
In 1740, a Foot Company of the Cecil County Militia was under the command of Capt. Zebulon Hollingsworth. Officers included Lieutenant Moses Alexander, and Ensign William Currer. [4]
“Elk Landing” plantation at the head of the Elk River, was started by Henry Hollingsworth in 1711 and expanded by his son Zebulon Hollingsworth in 1727 and 1735. [5]

Hollingsworth House - About 1750 Zebulon Hollingsworth built the approximately 30 x 30 foot left hand section as a brick two story dwelling. In the mid-1800s it was gutted by fire and rebuilt as three stories with a low pitched roof. Also the two story right hand side addition was added and the entire structure stuccoed. [6][1]
Zebulon was an active member of St. Mary Ann's Parish Church.
Zebulon ran a flour mill on the Elk River.

"1727 April 18th then was married Zeb'n Hollingsworth to Ann Mauldin." Ann was the daughter of Col. Francis Maulden, of Cecil County. [7]

Death
Zebulon died in 1763 and was buried in the family graveyard on the Elk River near his home.[9]. Zebulon was moved from the Hollingsworth and Partridge family burial ground in 1883 and re-interred in the Elkton Cemetery. --Cecil Whig, March 31, 1883 [2]
