Biography
The son of Henry Hoagland and Mary (Van Tuyle) Hoagland, Cyrus Hoagland was born in Romulus, New York[citation needed] in 1829, migrating west with his family between 1835 and 1838 to the new state of Michigan and settling in Britton Village, in Ridgeway Township.[1]
Cyrus married Mary E. Cook, marrying in Lenawee County, Michigan on March 2, 1853[2] and having at least one daughter, Della May (Hoagland) Clement (1856-1930). In 1860, Cyrus and his family lived in Ypsilanti, Michigan, where he worked as a carpenter.[3] They later moved to Adrian, Michigan.
Cyrus Hoagland passed away in Adrian, Michigan[4] at the age of 38 and is buried at Ridgeland Cemetery in Ridgeway Township, Michigan.[5]
