James Madison Hoadley, born 9 November 1829 in Ridgeville, Ohio; resides in Chicago, Ill.; married 3 November 1854 in Urbana, Ill., Hannah Ellen Morgan, daughter of Ebenezer and Hannah (Buckley) Morgan, born 15 September 1826 in Waterford, N. Y.
James Madison Hoadley came to Chicago in 1855, and until the great fire was a member of the firm of Hamilton and Hoadley, retail boot and shoe dealers, doing business on Lake Street, then the principal business street of the city. He lost everything in the fire and since then has been connected with Brown Brothers.
