Obituary in The Marysville Tribune, Marysville, Ohio, Wednesday, March 2, 1892, page 8, Column 4[9]
HITT - Peter Hitt was born in Fauquhar County, Virginia, March 5, 1811, and when seventeen years old he moved to Perry County, Ohio, with his father. They were there four years.
In 1831 he was married to Mary Rowley. They lived happily together for fifty years and two weeks. They were members of the Christian Church at Millcreek, and were baptized the same day and lived together till she was called away to that happy home where we will part no more. To them were born nine children, five girls and four boys, of which three girls and two boys are still living. They had twenty-nine grand children and twenty-four great grand children.
[The above was written by himself].
Grandpa Hitt, as he was familiarly called, lived for a number of years in Union county where he formed a great many acquaintances, and died near Broadway, Ohio, February 17th, 1892, loved and respected by all, aged 80 years, 11 moths, and 18 days.
