Margery Hitchens was born 30 December 1893. She is spelled "Margery" on the GRO record but "Margjorie" thereafter^[1]

In the 1911 census, Thomas Hitchens (37, tin miner sloping), wife Beatrice (30) and children Beatrice May (13), Thetis (11), Leonard (9), Marjorie (7), Harvey (3) and Avril (2) are living in Gwennap. All were born in Gwennap^[2]

In the 1939 register, Edward Burton (10 Dec 1892, retired china merchant), wife Beatrice M (17 Aug 1897) and children Verah Burton Griffith (25 June 1919, cinema usherette), Irene Burton Holdroff (4 Oct 1920, cinema usherette), closed-record, Desmond S Burton (24 June 1924, newpaper boy), Ronald Burton (14 April 1926), closed-record, Anna Ann Marina Burton Sandland (29 July 1934), Michael R Burton (2 June 1938) as well as Marjorie Hitchens Morgan (30 Dec 1903, unmarried hotel chamber maid) and Richard M Tripcony (6 June 1896, married taxi driver) are living at 26 Swanpool Street, Falmouth^[3]

Research Notes

The connection between Octavius Morgan (30 Dec 1902 - 1982) and the Octavius Morgan who married Marjorie Hitchens in 1945 is based mainly on the fact they both died in Pontypridd (one of two Octavius's who did, with the other accounted for). The fact they were both born 30 Dec with Marjorie one year younger had no influence on this educated guess.
