Robert Osgood Hilton was born about 16 Feb in Pleasant Valley, Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada. The exact year of his birth is undetermined. He filed a delayed birth record and it states he was born in 1876, however, this conflicts with a sibling's date of birth as does 1878. Most records state he was born in 1877 or 1878. The 1901 census showed his full date of birth and listed 16 Feb 1878 and showed him to be the youngest child.[1][2]
