In the 1930 US census, Annabelle Herzenstein (7) was living in San Mateo, California, with parents Morris Herzenstein (60) and Kate Herzenstein (37), and siblings Evelyn (17) and David (15) and aunt Pauline Warner (24).^[3]

In the 1940 US census, Ann R Herzenstein (16) was living in San Mateo, California, with parents Morris Herzenstein (71) and Katherine Herzenstein (47), and siblings Evelyn C Haas (27) and David W Haas (25).^[4] (Note that she is listed as Ann R Haas in some transcriptions, because her sister is listed above Ann on the record with her married name Evelyn Haas.)
