Biography

Mary Adele was born in 1872. [1] He married Mary Adele Heley in 1895 [2]

WEDDING AT TAKAKA. (From our Own Correspondent.) The wedding of Mr Hugh Page, son of Mr John Page, of Lower Takaka, and Miss Mary Adele (Minnie) Heley, the only remaining unmarried daughter of Mrs C. Heley, of Castlemaine, Victoria, was celebrated on Tuesday at the Church of Epihany, Lower Takaka, the Rev. Mr Hullett officiating. Great interest was manifested in the happy event, a large concourse of friends and well-wishers assembling to witness the marriage. The church was crowded with onlookers, and a great number were unable to gain admittance to the edifice. The exterior of the church was gaily decorated with bunting, which extended from the steeple to the stores of Messrs Langridge and Co., and all available flags were flying from other buildings in honour of the event of the day. The interior of the church bore evidence of the labours of willing hands, while the numerous kindly faces indicated the interest taken in the two who were about to plight their troth. Shortly before ten o'clook the bridegroom, attended by the best man, Mr Frank Page, entered the building; after a short interval the bridesmaids made their appearance. These young ladles were the Misses Louie and May Page, sisters of the bridegroom, and the Misses Daisy and Ella Baigent, friends of tbe bride and daughters of Mr Thomas Baigent. Mr Bert Heley, brother of the bride, was organist, and as the notes of a lively voluntary filled the air the bride herself, accompanied by Mr J. J. Langridge, her brother-in-law, entered the church. , The bride's dress was of cream nun's veiling richly trimmed with cream iignred silk and bridal flowers. The usual spray and veil reaching from the head to full length of dress added to the effect of her appearance, as she made her way up the aisle carrying a shower bouquet of double cream daffodil snowdrops and maiden hair ferns. Mr J J Langridge gave the bride away, The service ended and the newly wedded pair withdrew to the vestry to sign the Register, and the onlookers filed out of the church to be in readiness to greet the outgoing of the happy couple. Soon the Wedding March was heard, and the appearing of the bride and bridegroom at the door was the signal for the commencement of the time-honoured custom of a merry pelting with flowers and rice. Amid smiles and good wishes they gained the entrance of Mr Langridge's home, and disappeared from view. A large number of guests sat down to tho wedding breakfast spread at Mr Langridge's house, and, at about noon, tho guests escorted the bride and bridegroom through the village, accompanying them for a few miles on their way on horseback over the Takaka Ranges for Nelson, where they will spend their honeymoon ; and it is not too much to say that all Takaka unite in wishing that on "Hugh and Minnie " may rest all possible joys. The wedding presents were many, beautiful, and costly, denoting the esteem in whioh the recipients are held by their many friends.[3]

She passed away in 1940 age 68 [4]
