Birth

Nancy Heldt (the family surname is spelt variously as Helt, Held, Helth, and Heldt - which seems to have been the choice of descendants) was the daughter of Alexander Heldt, and is presumed to be the daughter of his wife Sarah.

(There are five children born in about a ten year period before Sarah's death. There are only baptism records for the youngest two, but it would seem reasonable to think the elder three were also hers. Nancy also calls her eldest daughter Sarah.)

In 1845 at her marriage her age is recorded as 17, this would suggest a birth around 1828. It is possible she was a little younger as her husband Thomas is recorded as 30, so she may have aged up some.

In Trichinopoly on the 29th of January 1845 Nancy married Thomas Vanderholt. ^[1]

Death

There are no burial records found for Thomas or Nancy. However Nancy must have died after the September 1862 birth of their daughter Alice Vanderholt

Their daughter Leah died in Sept 1864 and neither Thomas or Nancy were described as 'late' or 'dec.' on her burial record. ^[2]
