Biography

William Heisler (35) appears on the 1921 census with his wife Edith (35) and their family; Clarence (13), Matilda (10), Sadie (9), Harrold (6), Ellis (4), Martha (3) and Melbourne (1) ^[1]

Ellis M Heisler - There passed away at the Toronto General Hospital Tuesday, January 8th, Ellis M Heisler, the son of William Heisler and the late Mrs William Heisler, at the age of 63 (*35 misprint).^[2]

He has been living with a younger brother Melbourne in Malton, Ontario, for the past one and one half years. He was in failing health for some time before entering the hospital last fall to rest for the winter months. His death came as a shock to his friends and relatives which was due to a serious operation he underwent on Monday morning, January 7th, as he passed away at an early hour Tuesday morning, January 8th. with all of his troubles and ill health which he fought so bravely for some years, he still kept high hopes and a cheerful smile, and tried to make the best of life.

Besides his widow and small son, surviving are his father at Halifax; four brothers, Melbourne of Malton, Ontario, Clarence, Harold and David; also three sisters, Matilda (Mrs Clyde Eisnor) Indian Point, Sadie (Mrs Lindsay Publicover) Blandford, and Martha (Mrs James Stock) Dartmouth.

The body was forwarded to Mahone Bay. The funeral took place from Mahone Bay Funeral Home Sunday morning, January 13th, at 10 o'clock with the Rev F R Dolemont, pastor of the United Baptist Church officiating. The body was then forwarded to Tancook Island by way of Chester and the ferry to Tancook. The burial took place in the afternoon in the family plot in the Tancook Cemetery, pastor of the Baptist Church there conducting the service at the graveside. Pall bearers were Clifford Baker, Howard Baker, Stanley Baker and Calvin Hutt, all of Tancook Island. (BB of Wed, Jan 23 1952, pg 8, col 5)

Tancook Island - a graveside service was held for Ellis Heisler of Indian Point, formerly of Tancook, and his body was placed beside other members of his family. Those attending and mourning his loss were his father William Heisler of Halifax, brothers Clarence, Harold and David of Indian Point, and sister Sadie (Mrs Lindsay Publicover) of Blandford.
