Monica Barbara Heisler was born on December 4, 1936 at Esmond, ND, the daughter of Nicholas and Rose (Heilman) Heisler. She was reared and educated in Esmond, graduating from Esmond High School in 1955. She then attended North Dakota State School of Science, Wahpeton.
She met and married the love of her life, Gerald Dahm, on November 10, 1956 at Wahpeton. They established their home in Breckenridge, MN. Because of Gerald's work with Burlington Northern Railroad, they never lived in one place very long and lived in many places throughout Minnesota and North Dakota. In 1982, they moved to Devils Lake and retired here. While living in Devils Lake, Monica worked in the cafeteria at Central Middle School for a time but most of her life was devoted to caring for her husband and nine children. Monica was an avid bowler and thoroughly enjoyed any home remodeling project.
