Biography

Wingo was born in 1918. She was the daughter of Herbert Hays and Kathleen Elrod. She passed away in 2017.

Born January 9, 1918 in Sandy Springs, she was the daughter of the late Herbert L. and Kathleen Elrod Hays. She was a homemaker, master seamstress, and a member of Oakwood Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed traveling with the Orr Mill Ladies Club.

She is survived by three sons; Woodie Parker King and his wife, Jayne of Anderson, Fred D. King and his wife, Jerrel Lynn of Anderson, and James H. “Jim” King and his wife, Jan of Simpsonville; three daughters, Elaine K. Childers and her husband, Mike of Anderson, Gloria J. Simerly of Ocala, FL, and Susan Weddington of Wooster, OH. She was preceded in death by a son, SPEC. 4, Robert L. King. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and sister-in-law, Carolyn Hays. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
