Biography

Paulina was born on 25 Oct 1838 in Owen County, Indiana. She was the daughter of George and Catherine (Shore) Hauser.

At the time of the 1850 Census, Paulina was 12 years old. She and her family were living in Jefferson Township, Owen County, Indiana. Her mother died ca. 1844, and her father remarried to Elizabeth Fulk in 1845. Paulina was the third oldest child in the household at this time, and she was the 7th child of George and Catherine (Shore) Hauser.^[1]

Paulina was the second wife of Lot William Price. They married on 5 Dec 1872.^[2][3] Lot had three daughters from his previous marriage -- Eva, Mary and Etta.

In 1880, the family was living in Union, Hardin County, Iowa, ^[4] where they remain at least as late as 1910.^[5][6]

Paulina died a little more than three months after her husband on 29 Jul 1913 in Hardin County, Iowa and is buried in Hauser Cemetery in Whitten, Iowa. Her obituary refers to her as a "well known woman."^[7]

Research Notes

• It is likely that she moved to Iowa with her family before the 1860 Census was enumerated. Her father died in Marshall County, Iowa in 1863. However, I've been unable to find her in the 1860 or 1870 Census. -- Fiscus-32 04:28, 2 January 2024 (UTC)

• Her middle name and birth location come from her son Theren's delayed birth record.^[8]
