Herbert was born in 1853.[1] He was the son of George Hatt Cook and Emily Ann, neé FIRTH.
He married Frances M. Todd-Naylor in 1880.[2]
Herbert Hatt Cook was a solicitor (admitted 1877). He appears in the Law Lists from 1893-1903 (earlier years not searched) with his firm given as “Trafford and Cook”.
Herbert Hatt Cook was deputy returning officer for the Weaverham electoral division for General Elections. The solicitors Trafford and Cook joined with the firm of Balake and Trafford to become Hatt Cook Chambers and Kershaw. Later the firm became Chambers and Co, Northwich. [3]
Cheshire Archives have a file of correspondence concerning the restoration of Witton Church, 1883-1886. Letters are mainly addressed to Herbert Hatt Cook. Christ Church Parish, Alsager, Cheshire, has letters, dated 1883, from H Hatt Cook to Rev W A Sheringham relating to churchyard enlargement.[4]
Herbert Hatt-Coook was the executor of his father's will in 1901 and may have inherited Hartford Hall.
He is also referred to on the back of a picture of Hartford Lodge.[5]
Herbert HATT-COOK died 23 Jun 1922 in Bath.[6].
