Biography

Robert was born in 1856. He was the son of William Hardy and Jane Irwin. His mother died when he was eight and his father remarried. Robert became a blacksmith, his father's profession. He married Sarah Black in 1881. There is no record of any children of Robert and Sarah. They moved west to Medicine Hat, before it was a province and Robert worked there as an Railway Engineer. He passed away in 1939 at age 82 and was buried in Hillside Cemetery in Medicine Hat.
