Wesley Christopher Hanken (named after his paternal grandfather) was born in the vicinity of Monticello, Iowa, in 1945. He was the son of Wesley G. Hanken and Nedra (Kromminga (sp??) -- possibly Krominga??) Hanken. He graduated from Springville, Iowa, High School in 1963. He graduated from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, Iowa, in 1968.
Chris married Judy Meineke in "The Little Brown Church," Nashua, Iowa, in 1967. He was a high school teacher, wrestling coach, and administrator in Maquoketa, Iowa (between 1968 and 1990), and high school principal at Lisbon Iowa (from 1991 until his retirement. Chris Hanken died in Maquoketa, Iowa, in 2022.
