Biography

"Orson Fitch Gurley, of Mansfield, Connecticut, was twice married: 1st to Amy Starkweather of the same town, March 18, 1827. She died before 1835. 2nd marriage to Sally King of Mansfield, Connecticut, January 1, 1835. Mr. Orson F. Gurley died October 14, 1887 at the age of 84 years."

"Orson Fitch Gurley of Mansfield, Connecticut, was born March 24, 1804. During his life he lived a number of years in the towns of Coventry and Columbia, in the same state."

"During his life he held many town offices, which he filled with efficiency and credit. He was a man of sound judgement, and highly respected by his townspeople."

"Mr. Gurley died at Eagleville, in the town of Mansfield, leaving two sons, Ashley and Clarke Gurley, and two daughters, one the wife of Mr. John Hawkins of Willimantic, Connecticut, and the other, Mrs. A. K. Cyphers of South Easton, Pennsylvania. He was a member of the Spring Hill (Mansfield) Baptist Church. He is buried in the Gurley burying-ground."
