Catherine was born in 1711. She was the daughter of Henry Grey and Dorothy Wright. She passed away in 1748.
In the 1730s she was studying at Leiden, home of Leiden University, then the largest Protestant University. In 1736, against the wishes of their parents, she married Jan Willem Trip (born 1716). On 20 July 1736 their daughter Pieternella Johanna Wilhelmina was born, but she apparently died not long after. They lived in Amsterdam, on the Herengracht, in a house Jan Willem Trip inherited from his grandfather, Jan Trip. Jan Willem Trip died in 1737 or1738, but Catherine remained in their house in Amsterdam until 1746, when she remarried. Her second husband was burgomaster Gilles van Bempden, and she moved into his house. After his death in January 1748, she remained in his house until her death on 11 April 1748.
