Biography

Mary Grey was born at the Army Barracks in Coventry, Warwickshire, England, on 4 February 1819, the daughter of James Grey and Christian Glen. She was baptised at Vicar Lane Independent Church, Coventry. Mary's birth was recorded in the non-conformist records for the parish of St Michael, but the baptismal date was not recorded. It was usual for Scots to attend non-conformist churches when living in England. ^[1]

Mary married William Sounes at Saltoun, East Lothian, Scotland, on 5 April 1841. ^[2] They had three known children:

1. Margaret Sounness,
2. James Sounness and
3. William Sounness.

Emigration to Australia

Mary died on 3 January 1900 at Mount Barker, Western Australia, Australia.
