Biography

ATTENTION There are 2 men named Michel Girard in the same era and area, they are Michel Girard (1603- (this one) and Michel Girard (-1661). They are NOT the same man. There are overlapping marriages and children being born to them both in the same time period. Michel Girard (1603-'s parentage is proven by his children who marry in New France, with the presence of Michel's brother-in-law Jean Jobin at their contracts, cited as their uncle. The other Michel Girard's daughter Anne Girard, who also migrated to New France as a Fille du Roi, has absolutely no contact found with anyone else of that family. That Michel's parents are so far unknown, his marriage with Françoise de Greffard not having been found yet.

  1. À Saint-Cyr-du-Vaudreuil, le 28 juin 1633 fut baptisée une fille de Michel Girard et de Charlotte Desnoyers, son parrain Nicollas Jousset (?), sa marraine Marie Girard qui lui a donné le nom de Marie[3] Michel is listed on his daughter's first marriage record as Michel Girard[4]

Mariage 2
Michel Girard married Françoise Anceaume at an unknown date and place, but after his first wife died; they are the known parents of Joachim Girard, being listed on his marriage record to Marie Halay on 27 September 1660 in Québec city (ND)[5][6] Note: Jetté and various other authors put Joachim as possibly brother of Marie Madeleine Girard who married Charles Jobin, this is not the case, they were first cousins. See her profile for more.

  1. Joachim Girard (1641-__) was the brother of Marie Girard, and was present at the signing of her marriage contract on 8 May 1667 (contract in French section). They were only half-siblings. Both children of Michel Girard.
  2. Louis, b 27 oct.

Michel passed away after 27 Sep 1660 (per his son's marriage record).

He moved to Rouen per the marriage act of his daughter Marie Girard with Jean Lemaistre in May 1667, and is then still living per that act.[8]

Notes

See this page: Marin Girard's descendants emigrated to New France

There are 2 men named Michel Girard. One is son of Marin Girard and his wife Madeleine Hébert, the other is of unknown parentage. Evidence points to the father of Anne Girard being the one of unknown parentage. He married 3 times.

Girard-352 and Girard-262 appear to represent the same person because: this is the same man, who apparently married more than once. Marie Girard is known to be sister of Joachim Girard, both children of Michel Girard by apparently different mothers
