Gilbert Ging

Gilbert Ging, 66, loving husband, father and Pawpaw, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 9, 2005.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother. Gilbert was born in Taylor, Texas on Sept. 23, 1939, the son of Lydia (Eiben) and Albert Herman Ging. He married Peggy Walther on Aug. 23, 1958 and together they made their life in the Coupland/Thrall TX area.

He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Thrall, and served on the church council. He also served on the Coupland ISD Board.

He was an original founder and former director of the Williamson County Grain Co-op. In 1978-79 he was awarded Master Farmer of the Year. Gilbert took great joy in his lifelong occupation as a farmer. Along with farming, his family was the love of his life.

He will always be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife of 47 years, Peggy; daughters, Ginger Gross and husband Brian and Jeanie Alderete and husband Ismael of Thrall; son, Keith Ging and wife Patricia of Manor; and eight grandchildren, Brianna, Keegan, Braden, Abigail, Elizabeth, Nathan Gilbert, Luke and Joshua.

Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Condra Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 2 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Thrall with the Rev. Walter Miller and Vicar Jon Bielfeldt officiating. Burial will follow in Taylor City Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will be Loretta Patschke, Glen Roy Ging, Ewald Ging Jr., Keegan Gross, Braden Gross, Joshua Ging, Luke Ging, Brianna Gross, Abigail Alderete, Elizabeth Alderete and Nathan Gilbert Ging.

Pallbearers will be Scott Ging, Felix Pavlicek, Morris Zieschang, Steve Ging, Harry Burke, Bryan Hardi, Jim Walther and Calvin Ging.

Memorials may be given to Children's Hospital of Austin and St. John Lutheran Church of Thrall.

Condra Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
