William was born in 1735. He was the son of Richard Gilliam and Rebecca Unknown. He passed away in 1800 per the Gilliam Family Bible.
William married Elizabeth McCormick, the daughter of David McCormick. Their son David was named after Elizabeth's brother. Elizabeth is found in the Gilliam Family Bible along with David and Sherwood McCormick.
A 1769 Survey places William on the branches of the Holliday. Later records place sons David, John and Richard also on the Holliday River.

Barry, I appreciate your meticulously analysis of the available records. I am not opposed to your understanding to the early Gilliams. I want to have these lines as accurate as possible. I struggle with "fitting" William who married McCormick among the New Kent Gilliams. He must be related to one of them per the handling of John's estate in Buckingham and the Bible record not to mention the McCormicks seem to have roots in New Knet.
Greg -- I love you, but I have to disagree with the proposition that the William Gilliam who was born Nov. 22, 1735 in New Kent County was the same as the man who married Elizabeth McClintock. I appreciate the Bible reference to the death in 1800 of a William Gilliam who was a brother of Epaphroditus Gilliam, but what if the subject Epaphroditus Gilliam was not born in 1737, but perhaps a generation earlier? I will have to study this more, but I have the feeling that the earliest references to Epaphroditus Gilliam in the Buckingham / Albemarle / Louisa area relate to the Epaphroditus who was (supposedly) a younger brother of Richard Gilliam Jr., rather than his son.
