Biography

Arthur Gillham was born in King, Ontario, 21 Jan 1863.

He married, 19 Dec 1888, Anna Maria White at All Saints Anglican Church. She was born 1 May 1871, the daughter of Thomas and Annie White of King, Ontario. The 1901 census lists her racial origin as Irish. Family tradition states that she came from a somewhat better to do family that was living closer to Toronto.

In 1891, Anthony [sic] Gillam, farmer, 29, Anna, 19 and Mossa, 1 were residing in King.

In 1901, Arthur Gillham, import agent, 38, Anna M., 29, Gladys, 8, Elva, 6, Harry, 4, Mossie, 2, John O. Withsall, boarder, 25, b. England and Thomas Butt, boarder, 58, b. England were residing in King.

In 1911, Arthur Gillham, “Union Station”, 48, Anna M., 40, Gladys, publishing co., 19, Elva, publishing co., 16, Hari [sic], worker?, 14, Mossie, 12, Vera, 7 and Elva, niece, store, 19 were residing at 246 Macdonnell ave, Ward 6, Toronto West, Toronto. The 1911 edition of the Toronto City Directory lists:

Arthur died, 16 Jul 1922, and is buried in the All Saints Anglican Church Cemetery in King City.
