Joseph Gillam was born in Van Diemen's Land (1826-1856)

Joseph Gillam was born in 1831. He was the son of Thomas Gilham and Frances Furner.

Joseph (Singleman, age 21, Farmer, Free) married Eliza Soden (Singlewoman, age 17, Free) on 21 September 1853 at St. John Church, Launceston, Tasmania. Witnesses were Thomas Leith and Maria Gillam. ^{[1] [2]}

Joseph died on 10 June 1872 (Publican, age 40, of Peritonitis) at Deloraine, Tasmania, Australia. ^{[3] [4]}
His death was reported in Launceston Examiner (Tas. : 1842 - 1899) Thu 13 Jun 1872 Page 2 Family Notices: ^[5]

GILLAM.- On Monday, the 10th June, at Deloraine, Joseph Gillam, after a shot illness of 5 days, aged 44. The funeral will leave Deloraine at 12 o'clock on Sunday next, 16th, and will be at Westbury at 3 p.m. Friends are invited to attend.

He was buried at Westbury General Cemetery, Westbury, Tasmania. ^[6]
