Matilda Jane Gillam was born on November 22, 1848, in Radnor, Carroll, Indiana.[1] She was the daughter of Allen Gillam and Mary Thomas. Matilda was age 1, in 1850 living with her parent’s, Allen W. Age 29, and Mary A, Gillam age 24, and a sister Sabrina E. 1/2 yrs old, in Disrict 9, Carroll, Indiana.[2]
She married William Dunkin Brown on October 6, 1869, in Carroll co., Indiana.[3]They had eight children.
Her husband William D passed away on January 26, 1892, in Carroll, Indiana,[5] at the age of 42. He died of Pneumonia. They had been married 22 years.
She died the next year, on February 12, 1893, at the age of 44, in Carroll County, Indiana, and was buried in Bringhurst, Carroll County, Indiana in the Zion Citizens Cemetery.[1] She died the next year of Pneumonia.
