Albert Edward Gillam was born in 1895, in Cranbrook, Western Australia, Australia.^[1] He was the son of Edward Thomas and Louisa Sounness.

On 28 July 1915 Albert enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force.^[2]

He married Louisa Maud Brackpool on 25 November 1918, in Crawley, West Green, Sussex, England, United Kingdom.^[3]

He died on 10 December 1967, in Bayswater, Western Australia, Australia, at the age of 72.^[4] He was cremated and his ashes scattered over the garden at Karrakatta Cemetery, Karrakatta, Western Australia, Australia.^[5]
