Biography
Charles Gillam was born about 1738. On 27 July 1762, he took out a bond to marry Jemima Harris in Granville County, North Carolina.[1] Her father had given his permission for them to marry on 10 July 1762.[2]
Charles and Jemima Gillam moved to Ninety-Six District, South Carolina, where he died in 1783. On 20 November 1783, she applied for letters of administration on his estate. Letters were granted on 29 November 1783.[3]
There were two Charles Gilliams in Granville. One married Jemima Harris and is associated with Robert Gilliam and the Caldwells and left an estate in Newberry SC in 1783. The other married a Frances and left an estate in Granville, NC in 1784.
