Frederick county deed book #27 Part 2, 1800-1803; page 444 "Shanendoah Valley History" states that Peter Gilham came to Frederick county in 1777. Peter Gilham was a lieutenant in the Rev. War Information on this family is from family research sheets of Lawrence K. Rothe. Frederick County marriage register book 1: Gilham, Peter - Marker, Mary by Christian Streit. 22 July 1792. p65

In 1777 his Father-in-law, Col. Nathaniel Carr ( know as Col.) sold him part of his land grant of the Glebe in Fairfax, Frederick County, VA. The Glebe was a section of land on the west side of the Old Cartmell & Froman Rds, owned by the Episcopal Church. Later the Glebe was regarded property of the Gilham Estate. Fairfax, Frederick, VA By 1743, the Frederick County Court admitted that Lord Fairfax's land included the County. At the age of 16, George Washington was a member of a surveying party that came to Frederick County for Lord Fairfax in 1748. In 1749, Lord Fairfax moved to Frederick County and built his home, Greenway Court, at White Post, in present-day Clarke County. He accepted Wood's 1,300 acre claim and other additional lots at Winchester. 5 Apr 1802 Joseph Longacre, Thomas; John Faucett assigned and laid off by survey the land of Peter Gilham's estate. The land was divided; the first lot given to the Widow Gilham, the others to Levi, Martha, Thomas, Mary (she got Lot No. 4), Ezekial, Sarah Ober, Eliza, David C., and William Gilham.
