Biography
Mary was born about 1791, based on her age at the time of her death. She was the daughter of George Giffin and Margaret Pride of Louis Head, Nova Scotia[1][2]
Circa 1815, she married Deacon Jacob Ringer, son of George and Mary (Spearwater) Ringer[1][2][3] Their children included:
Lavinia, born circa 1818, who married Joseph Freeman of Sable River [2][3]
Elizabeth, born circa 1819, who married Matthew Hayden [2][3]
David Nutter, born circa 1822, who married Sarah McMillan [2][3]
Almira, born circa 1824, who married Louis Freeman as his second wife [2]
Mary Margaret, born circa 1831, who married John Wilson McMillan [2][3]
Mary (Giffin) RInger died August 12, 1882 at age 91 [2][1], and was buried in Louis Head Cemetery. According to her gravestone, she was a widow at the time of her death. It reads .."In memory of Mary, relict of the late Deacon Jacob Ringer, who died August 12, 1882. in the 91st. of her age"[4]
