He passed away on December 21, 1857 in St. François Xavier, Manitoba at the age of 74. [1]
Baptiste also went by Jean Baptiste (as seen in Government scrip documents; spouse always listed as Madeleine Bonneau, but the spouse Gervais is sometimes listed as Jean Baptiste or just 'Baptiste'). This can cause confusion for people when searching for information.

Notes
I removed links that member Viau-81 posted. I kept getting the message "This site can’t be reached www.pam.minisisinc.com’s server IP address could not be found." - these are not real sources (or a site apparently).

what needs to be found is the marriage record... only this seem would have the name of the parents AND spouse on it.. i looked in familysearch and can't find it. i don't know what other resources i could find. do you have an idea ?
what i got from another place in internet is that the marriage happened in red river settlement, manitoba, 1820. no confirmation, but a good indication on where to lead the search.
That needs more research Anne-Marie- as per the note you left on my wall, and the three or 4 other Jean Baptiste Gervais.

hello, c !
i can't provide source for this at the moment... you're onto something though, there are definately mistakes in this ! i keep this in mind, and when i have more time, i can make more research into this. thanks for pointing it out !"
Unsure why Viau-81 added Gervais-613 as a father to Gervais-961 but she never gave a source for this information. Ancestry is not a proper source, and is paid subscription in order to access files. I have asked Ann-Marie to provide the documents/primary sources for why she thinks Gervais-613 is the father? There are 2 additional 'Jean Baptiste's listed as children on that profile as well.
