Biography

Pearl (Garrigus) Scott was a Missourian.

Ivy was born on December 19, 1883, in Dallas County, Missouri, to William and Josephine Garrigus. Some sources spell her first name Ivey, and her tombstones uses only her middle name, Pearl. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7]

Ivy was enumerated for the federal census on June 23, 1900. She was 16 years old at this time, and was living with parents, William and Josephine, grandmother Sylva Johnston, and sister Ella, in Jasper Township, Dallas County, Missouri. She was noted to be able to read and write. [1]

On May 14, 1901, Ivy was married to Charles Scott in Dallas County, Missouri. [8]

Ivy was enumerated for the federal census on May 12 or 13, 1910. She was 26 years old at this time, and was living with husband Charles, and children Floyd and Dessie, in Lincoln Township, Dallas County, Missouri. [2]

Ivy was enumerated for the federal census on January 14, 1920. She was 36 years old at this time, and was living with husband Charles, and children Floyd and Dessie, in North Benton Township, Dallas County, Missouri. [3]

Ivy was enumerated for the federal census on April 4, 1930. She was 46 years old at this time, and was living with husband Charles, daughter Dessie, and granddaughters Vena and Ivy, in North Benton Township, Dallas County, Missouri. [4]

In 1935, Ivy was inferred to be living in North Benton Township, Dallas County, Missouri. [5]

Ivy was enumerated for the federal census on April 10, 1940. She was 56 years old at this time, and was living with husband Charles, and granddaughters Vena and Ivy, in North Benton Township, Dallas County, Missouri. She was a homemaker, and was noted to have an 8th grade education. [5]

Ivy was enumerated for the federal census on April 5, 1950. She was 66 years old at this time. She was widowed and living alone, and did not work outside of her home. [6]

Ivy died on May 20, 1974, in Harrisonville, Missouri. She was buried on May 23, 1974, in Reynolds Cemetery in Buffalo, Missouri. [9] [10]
