Biography
Thomas was a Friend (Quaker)
Thomas Garrett was born on 12 May 1649 and baptized on 17 May 1649 in Harby, Leicestershire, England,[1] the last child of John and Mary Garrett. On 19 Apr 1668 Thomas was a witness to the marriage of his brother William Garrett to Ann Kirke.[2][3] Thomas married Ellin Raworth on 17 July 1672 in Besthorpe, England.[4]

Balderton, Nottinghamshire, England where all eight of their children were
born:[1]
1) Thomas, 3 mo. 26 1674 (26 May 1674); probably died prior to 1682.
2) Sarah, b. 1675.
3) Mary, b. 1677; probably died prior to 1679.
4) Timothy, b. 1678.
5) Mary, b. 1679; probably named after her older sister.
6) John, b. 1680 (twin).
7) Dorothy, b. 1680 (twin).
8) Thomas, b. 1682; probably named after his older brother.
On 3 July 1684 Thomas obtained a certificate from "Friends at Fulbeck" (Fulbeck is a few miles east of Balderton) in conjunction with Robert Pennell, Hugh Rodnell, Henry Pennell and Richard Parker, with their wives and children, intending to transfer themselves to America.[1] He most likely came over with his brother William Garrett from the port at Bristol, England in Aug 1684 aboard the ship Bristol Merchant under the command of John Stephens.[5] Thomas would died only a few months later in Darby, Pa. In the records of Darby Meeting Pa., his death is recorded as 12 mo. 1, 1684. Ellen's death is recorded as 10 mo. 7, 1702.
