Immigration: The Ganopolski family arrived in Galveston Texas on July 20, 1912.

The family all went to Seattle to work for Uncle Kahan in his suitcase factory, and then to Portland, Oregon where they opened a luggage shop (which stayed in family hands until 2018). Sometime after 1920 Joe and Clara branched off to do their own thing - ultimately ending up in Los Angeles, where Joe sold wholesale groceries. He also sang opera, Carmen being his favorite.

Joe and Clara were first cousins once removed.
