Hi Jessica. Are you able to give your approval for the proposed merge on Carrington-106? Let me know if I can help or answer any questions. (There will probably be more merges and changes to this specific profile because it is a family which has had some issues with duplications etc.)

Hi Jessica,

This is a courtesy email to say thanks for taking responsibility for more Orphaned Profiles. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the word "adopted" or "manager." You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.

I noticed that some of those profiles will need GEDCOM cleanup. The AGC extension helps with the formatting so that you can concentrate on the research. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.

AGC works great for brand new profiles. It may or may not work well on the previously orphaned profiles. Some have been changed enough for the tool not to work. In those cases, the cleanup is a manual process. One of our mentors created a YouTube video that explains her process. I recommend adding links to the profiles of family members, rather than removing them as recommended in the video.

Let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources, merge duplicates, clean up GEDCOM biographies, and interpret the Suggestions report. I'm here to help!

Hi Again,

You've been a member for about a week so I thought I would check in to see how it's going. Have the How-Tos been helpful or left you with questions? Most of us have questions after all that information!

I want to help! Click my name, send me a private message or ask in the comment section of my page. Sometimes links don't work in emails. If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile. The links will work from there.

PS To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.

Thanks for volunteering, Jessica!

You are now a full member of the WikiTree community. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do. After four years, I’m still gradually adding ancestors to the big tree. I also appreciate getting to know other members, many of whom have turned out to be cousins.

Start with the New Member How-To pages — they are really useful as you add profiles and learn your way around.

Take your time, and let me know if you need any help using the site. I’m always happy to answer questions.

Carole ~ WikiTree Greeter

P.S. If you get error messages when you click links from WikiTree emails, try the links from your profile page.

Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? When you confirm your email address, you’ll have an opportunity to volunteer and tell us about your genealogical interests.

Have a great day ! Maggie
