Biography

Mary was born in 1837. She married Josiah King. He died in a Confederate hospital, a prisoner of war, of wounds received in the Battle of Chickamauga. She applied for a widow’s pension. Her father-in-law Joseph and sister-in-law Emaline provided an affidavit on her behalf in the application. In 1899-Nov, her pension office was transferred from Columbus, Ohio to New York City. A correspondence with the pension office in 1912 gives a last address of Danville, Illinois.
