Hugh's birth was registered in the Stroud district of Gloucestershire in the fourth quarter of 1841.[1]
He was educated at Cheltenham College. Lieutenant Colonel Royal (late Bengal) Artillery at India According to The Fords of Ford Green, he abducted his wife from a convent He and his wife had two marriages - a Roman Catholic rite on 17 April 1866 at Mussorie, Bengal[2] and an Anglican rite on 18 April 1866.
He was buried at Elworth, Cheshire on 27 August 1912.[3] His grave gives his birth date as 22 November 1841 and his death date as 21 August 1912.[4]
