Biography

Frederick Forde was christened at Sandbach, Cheshire on 2 September 1801, with his birth date given as 20 June 1801.^[1] Alumni Cantabrigiense gives Abbeyfield near Sandbach as his birthplace.^[2]

He studied at Balliol College, Oxford and Trinity College, Cambridge, gaining a BA in 1825 and MA in 1831.^[2]

He was ordained deacon at Chester in 1827, and priest the following year.^[2]

Frederick's death, age 80, was registered in the Fulham district of London in the first quarter of 1881.^[8] He was buried at Hammersmith, London on 23 February 1881.^[9] Probate was granted in September 1881, with the death date given as 23 February 1881, which is also the date given in Alumni Cantabrigienses.^[2][10]

Research Notes

It will be apparent from the inline citations for the information above that there are some disagreements between dates in Frederick Forde's own autobiography and those given in Alumni Cantabrigienses. It is clear from the latter that the compiler had trouble tracking down all the relevant data for Frederick's frequently changing positions, and his own autobiography is likely to be more accurate.
