Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.
Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.
We are a DNA match on our ancestors Isaac Sedore and Wyntje Applby. A small segment on chromosome 1, but given how far back they are...I am happy to find it! If you want to check out my tree at wikitree, I am Bonney-1177
Nice to MEETCHA!
Ancestry does not do a good enough job when it comes to segment data and ancestors further back than 4 generations. For that ftDNA and GEDmatch are the best right now. If you want to paint your chromosomes and really SEE what you share with whom, and where it is located on the chromosome, you can do that for free at dnapainter.com. There is a definite learning curve, but once you get the hang of it...its fun! Do you have any other cousins that you know of that descend from Sedore/Applby?
Thanks for the information on dnapainter, I will look into that. Sedore/Applby seem to be quite prolific. Ancestry is showing approx. 60 connections to my 5th great grandmother Wyntje. In response to your question about my cousins, I have 5 male cousins and 1 brother that descend from Sedore/Applby. However, none of them are interested in family history. I am totally alone in this search. Look forward to hearing from you in the future.
I was somewhat incorrect. What I meant to say was that my 4th great grandfather, Abraham Sedore, (son of Wyntje) has 68 DNA matches on Ancestry. I looked at your great grandfather, Conrad, and there are only 4 DNA matches. However, the total amount from Sedore/Applby is around 127 matches. Still quite prolific.
Hi Cindi: Unfortunately no one has the surname of Sedore. My cousins are McEwan & Foster and my brother is Fontaine. We all relate back to Sedore but my brother & I are on the paternal side while they go back on the maternal side. Have a great weekend.
Hi Summer: I'm having trouble connecting you to James Crittenden. Do you mean James Crittenden 1857-1943? I viewed your tree and didn't see any mention of James Crittenden. Your grandfathers are listed as James Browers and David Thompson. Could you clarify this? Thanks
Hi Summer: I have done some further research on James Crittenden 1782-1847. He is my fourth great grandfather thru his son Orin. He is your fifth great grandfather thru his daughter Arena which makes us fifth cousins once removed. Have a great weekend.

PS...Thank you for adding your DNA Test information to your profile on WikiTree. Your information will be propagated to the profiles of your parents and your ancestors within about 24 hours of being added. It will also propagate to the profiles of the descendants of your ancestors, so they may see your information under the heading "DNA Connections" just as you can see theirs.
We do enter our DNA testing information and it is very easy to do. On the top right of most pages there is an active button "ADD." If you hover over that button there is a drop-down box and the first item is DNA. Click on that and follow the instructions. You can enter your testing company and the type of test such as Y-DNA, mtDNA or Autosomal (Family Finder): Ancestry, FTDNA, My Heritage, and GedMatch are examples of the companies. You will also add your identifying information such as the kit # for FTDNA.
As you add more profiles the information will continue to show up on all the appropriate ancestors' profiles.
To be able to add profiles, you will need to upgrade (there is no cost). You can do this from your Upgrade page. Just answer the five questions, e.g. who you want to communicate with, if others can see your family tree, what surnames, locations, or topics interest you, etc, and click on the green box that says "Upgrade.” Upgrading just means you will become a Family Member with the ability to work on your immediate ancestors to help us achieve our goal of joining all individual family trees into one global family tree.
I hope this helps and if you have problems or other questions, please ask as I will be happy to help.
I am not sure why that did not work, but there is DNA information showing up at the top right of the profile. I would recommend moving these questions to G2G by clicking on 'move to G2G' and you will get more detailed assistance that way. If that does not help, please contact me again and I will find a Mentor who can help you with that.
