Biography

Edward was born in 1907, the son of Edward Folger and Rena Crowell.

The 1910 US census for Avon, Norfolk County, Massachusetts lists residents of an apartment located at 57 (Rear) Maine Street as head of household Clinton Folger (23), an edge setter at a shoe factory, his wife of three years Rena Folger (20), an eyelet setter at a shoe factory, mother of one child, and their son Edward Folger (2). All were born in Massachusetts.

The 1920 US census for Abington, Plymouth County, Massachusetts lists the residents of a rented home located at 60 Lake Street as Edward C Folger (32), an edge setter at a shoe factory, Rena F Folger (31), a stitcher at a shoe factory, and Edward C Folger Jr. (12), attends school.

He married Helen Virginia Twyman at Los Angeles, California on 19 August 1931. Their marriage license dated 19 August 1931 at San Pedro, Los Angeles County, California Edward Clinton Folger, native of Massachusetts, age 24, residence with the United States Navy and Helen Virginia Twyman, native of Rhode Island, age 21, residing at San Pedro were married by Catholic priest Anthony J Jacobs. Witnesses were Leonard Bowie of Los Angeles and Ruth Twyman of San Pedro. Edward is an Ensign on the USS Idaho, son of Edward C Folger born in Massachusetts and Rena Franklin Crowell, born in Massachusetts. Helen is a resident of Fort McArthur, San Pedro, Los Angeles County, California, not employed and the daughter of Joseph Henry Twyman born in Kentucky and Flora Decatur Quade born in Maryland. It is a first marriage for both.

The 1940 US census for New London, New London County, Connecticut lists the residents of a rented home located at 166 Lincoln as head of household Edward C Folger (32), Lieutenant Commander of US Navy subbase, wife Helen Folger (30), daughter Maristella Folger (7), born in California, and daughter Virginia Folger (5), born in California.
