3 more children are attributed to them by a few authors and several online genealogies, nevertheless no sources have been found to date to support their connection.[6][7] If they are indeed their children they could have been born in Rhode Island.
After 1697 Kingston, Washington County, Rhode Island[4]
Life Event Timeline
Event: Samuel was one of the witnesses to the deed when the Narragansett Indians sold their land to the Rhode Island Settlers.
Type: Witness to Land Deed
1687, Sep. 6: On 6 September 1687, Samuel Edred Sr. is cited on Gov. Andros' tax roll at Rochester (renamed later to Kingstown), Rhode Island owing a “pole” (poll) tax of 1s, and a property tax of 2s 4.5d, which places him as an adult resident and property landholder in Kingstown, RI on this date. [8] This tax roll identifies a sum total of 138 individual taxpayers, but only 85 family groups living in the roughly 22.5 square mile area associated with Kingstown, RI on this date in 1687; one consequence of this sparse population is that he would have been well acquainted with many, if not all, of the individuals identified on this list. Therefore, this tax list is a defacto definition of the people who were available to be his friends, neighbors, and allies; it would be essential to cultivate strong working relationships with these neighbors in order to survive on this frontier landscape. This cross reference tool provides hot links to peruse most of the 136 Wikitree families identified in this tax roll; families who were very frequently interconnected, or became interconnected, by marriage, over the course of their lives and throughout the ensuing generations, further binding a network of neighbors into extended families. [9] His sons, Samuel Jr., Thomas, John, and Daniel are also cited on this same tax roll, though his son James is not; Austin assert the reason for his absence is that he was deceased by this date.
1670 Jun 22: - Wickford, Rhode Island. Taking Constables oath.[4]
The Narragansett country, west of the Narragansett Bay was first called Rochester, during the time of the united colonies under Gov. Andros. The name was later changed to Kingstown, and was split into North and South Kingstown in 1722; South Kingstown was incorporated in 1723. Wilbur-403 09:20, 25 July 2017 (EDT). Subsequently the area that was originally identified as Rochester or Kingstown was further subdivided into the present day towns of North Kingstown, South Kingstown, Exeter, and Narragansett (1888).
Kings County was created from Providence Plantations in 1729, it was renamed Washington County on October 29, 1781, in honor of General and President Washington.

I just added sources for the children born in Cambridge, MA. Couldn't find any sources for the other 3 attributed to him. They could have been born in RI or they could be someone else's children. If we can't find any sources to support their connection I think they should be detached from Samuel's profile.
S, was the disputed parentage on this resolved? The sourcing here doesn't look good but I have not investigated further.
There are additional problems upstream (if there is an upstream) where Eldredge grandparents have been reattached to entirely undoc'd parents. I have asked England Project to review and detach and perhaps PPP to prevent the frequent reintroduction of errors.
Thanks. See the G2G on the removed father...it may be that some connections are correct but lacking the documentation and Eldredge vs Eldred seems to have come with bad merge. England working on this and I will follow.m
Samuel Eldred does not appear in Anderson's Great Migration Directory, and from what I can find he was known to be in New England first in 1642 with the birth of a child in Cambridge. Does anyone have any reliable source that places him in New England by 1 640?
He is most likely not a PGM ancestor.
Edited to update: He was a member of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Boston in 1641.
